Besides the main Child Welfare office in Kleinmond and its Staff of 8 including a General Manager, Financial Manager, Administrator, Community Development Worker, 2 Social Workers and 2 Social Auxiliary Workers – there are 6 different projects that fall under the umbrella of the Child Welfare Initiative, including 3 Pre-Primary schools, a Creche, an after-school Care facility, and the Child & Youth Centre, where 25 kids live on a permanent basis. This clearly defined focus of the various Projects gives Staff, Volunteers & Donors the ability to match their passion, skills, knowledge & support to a particular Project, all operating under the guidance, governance & risk management of the central Child Welfare Kleinmond NPO structure.
Through the dedicated work of its Staff and the generous support from Donors & Volunteers, it is easy to recognize why Child Welfare Kleinmond has reached 40 years of dedicated work in the welfare field.
Our Top Priorities
early childhood development and basic education
Expansion of early childhood development activities, including appropriate low-cost family and community-based interventions. By introducing these interventions we want to eradicate the high school dropout rate.
social welfare development
To ensure that appropriate social welfare services are provided for children, especially those living in poverty, those who are vulnerable and those who have special needs. These services should include preventive and protective services, facilities, social relief and social security programmes
leisure and cultural activities
To provide all children with the opportunity to engage in leisure, recreation and cultural activities
child protection measures
To ensure that the child are protected within the civil justice system and kept safe.
health and nutrition
Reduction in severe as well as moderate malnutrition among children in our diverse communities.
